The Journey
Movement
Movement has always been at the heart of Kevin Cottam’s award-winning life, work, and philosophy.
Over time, movement became more than travel or performance. It became a way of understanding how people adapt, evolve, connect, create, and move through uncertainty and change.
Originally from Canada and now based in Singapore, Kevin’s journey has taken him across continents, cultures, industries, ice rinks, and stages around the world.
From choreographing National, World, and Olympic figure skating champions to directing and choreographing the Closing Ceremonies of the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics and million-dollar touring productions, movement became a lifelong exploration of human potential, performance, and creativity.
This led to executive coaching, and facilitating global leadership experiences for organisations such as Novartis, Haribo, UBS, Club Med, and OCBC.
These experiences deepened his understanding into transformation, connection, and human growth.
Over time, a deeper question began to emerge:
How do people continue to adapt, grow, and move forward in uncertain and changing environments?
Discovery
That question led Kevin into some of the world’s oldest nomadic cultures.
Through travel and research to nomadic communities in Mongolia, Kenya, Morocco, and Namibia, he explored how ancient wisdom could inform modern leaders to navigate uncertainty, complexity, change, and human connection.
It was during these experiences that the deeper meaning of nomad began to reveal itself.
Not simply movement across land, but ‘movement of the mind’.
- Ability to adapt.
- Observe.
- Listen.
- Evolve.
- Move when the terrain changes.
These experiences became the foundation for his bestselling leadership book, The Nomadic Mindset: Never Settle for Too Long
